Travel Preparations:

Visa

You most likely don't need a visum if you will stay in South Africa for less than 90 days. You will receive your tourist visum at the entry point to South Africa. The flight attendants hand out visa applications on the plane that you have to fill in and show the passport control. However, make sure with your South African embassy that you do not require a visum beforehand. Find your embassy here.

Flights to South Africa:

The national Airline of South Africa is South African Airways. The service on board is excellent and really recommendable! Have a look at their website: www.flysaa.com

Flights within South Africa

If your trip requires you to do a national flight, check out www.kulula.com for the cheapest and easiest way of getting from one major city to another by plane.

Airports in South Africa:

Have a look at the ACSA (Airports Company South Africa) site. You will find all the necessary information about the following airports in South Africa: Johannesburg, Cape Town, Durban, Bloemfontein, Port Elizabeth, East London, George, Kimberley and Upington.

Clothes:

We recommend bringing light clothes in summer. However, some evenings can get chilly - so bring a light jacket. It can get down to approx. 5 C in the South African winter (June, July, August). Please take warm clothes with you. But with a bit of luck, you will catch a warm and sunny day.
